The Agreement is the foundation for
controlling risk and avoiding misunderstandings with customers. This document
was developed for each Article of Check 21 to address the complex issues and
responsibilities of the bank and customer.
The Risk Assessment is required by regulators
and critical to the Board of Directors’ understanding of Merchant Check
Capture. The FFIEC guidelines were used to ensure compliance with current,
published requirements.
Application and Underwriting
Guidelines
The application is usually the starting
document for preparing a customer to use Merchant Check Capture. We provide a
model that can be easily updated with your information and, as needed, provide
all necessary disclosures.
The Underwriting Guidelines define the policy
and procedures for determining which applicants are approved for Merchant Check
Capture. Unfortunately, all commercial customers and prospects are not viable
candidates and these Guidelines keep the bank from making subjective
decisions—a requirement by the regulators.
